Our Approach

To provide the cleanest water to our customers, so they can live healthier lives

Our Story

Our organization began when several members of the Bison Lions Club took the "call to action" in the first half of 1980 as the result of a water contamination problem that developed in the town of Bison.  A petition, signed by Stephen S. Pribil, Eldon and Thelma Weber was presented to the Garfield County Commissioners to incorporate rural Water and Sewer District #5, Garfield County, Oklahoma which was approved on July 21, 1980.  In June, 1982 construction began to lay pipeline to 523 customers located primarily in Garfield County with some locations in nearby Kingfisher County.   Today, that system has grown to 793 customers, with total water supplied in excess of 55.5 million gallons annually. New wells have been drilled to continue the supply of clean non-chlorinated drinking water to our customers.  Bacteria samples are taken monthly to insure our water is safe to drink.  Rural water and Sewer District #5, Garfield County, Oklahoma is governed by a Board of Directors who meet monthly to monitor the activities of the previous month, to set policies for our management team, and review the financial stability of the organization.  Our goal is to continue to supply clean safe drinking water to a community that relies on our ability to do just that.
